Print at 100% scale (not “fit to page”). Unfolded, a tag measures 19 × 6 cm; folded, 9.5 × 6 cm.
How to
Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale. Thick paper from 160 gsm works best, but plain printer paper will do in a pinch.
Cut the tag out along the outer dashed line and fold it on the dotted centre line. The two holes then sit exactly on top of each other.
Cover the folded tag on both sides with wide, clear packing tape or laminate it. That way it survives rain on the apron and the baggage belt.
Punch the hole, add a reinforcement ring and fix the tag to the handle with a cable tie, key ring or string.
A luggage tag has exactly one job: whoever finds your suitcase should be able to reach you. Your name and a mobile number you can be reached on while travelling are enough. An email address is a good extra in case you have no signal abroad.
Your home address, on the other hand, shouldn't be on the outside. At the baggage belt, on the coach or in the hotel lobby, anyone can read it, and it reveals which home is currently empty. Put it on a note inside the suitcase together with your itinerary instead.
More on this in our guide Luggage tags: why your address is a burglary risk.

Depending on the trip
The check-in label gets your bag to its destination but carries no phone number. If it tears off, your own tag is the only clue.
Use the luggage labels from the cruise line. A second tag with ship and cabin helps if something goes astray at the terminal.
In the luggage hold many cases look alike. Group name and contact person make them easy to match.
Use a parent's number instead of the child's, plus the supervisor on site. That way a finder always reaches an adult.
A printed tag is quick to make, but it has two weaknesses: it eventually goes soggy, and your mobile number is on show for everyone. The hiddencontact digital luggage tag carries a QR code with NFC instead of your number. Whoever finds your case scans it and messages you, with no app and without ever seeing your number.

FAQ
Your name, mobile number and email address are enough. That lets the airline, the cruise line or a finder contact you. When travelling, your accommodation at the destination can be useful too; on cruises, the ship and cabin number.
Better not visibly. A home address on your case tells anyone at the airport where nobody is home right now. If you want to include it, put a note with your address and itinerary inside the suitcase. Only someone officially opening the case will see it.
Thick paper or thin card between 160 and 250 gsm works in most inkjet and laser printers. Make sure to print at 100% scale so the holes line up when you fold the tag.
Laminate it or cover both sides with wide, clear packing tape. Leave the edges slightly overlapping and only punch the hole afterwards. A reinforcement ring stops the tag tearing at the hole.
It isn't mandatory, but airlines recommend labelling checked baggage with your name and contact details. If the check-in label comes off, your own tag is often the only clue to who the case belongs to.
Yes. If you leave fields empty, the generator prints writing lines in their place. So you can print one sheet for the whole family and fill in each tag by hand.
No. The preview and the PDF are created directly in your browser. Your name, number and all other details are never sent to hiddencontact or any third party.
